Bethesda Gardens Phoenix team member makes significant impact on residents dealing with memory change.

Our very own Donna McDonald, Memory Care Director, is making a notable impact on the lives of our residents, while inspiring other staff to do the same! She is one of the many Bethesda Senior Living care givers training in Teepa Snow's POSITIVE APPROACH™ - a progressive therapy for helping seniors and their families recognize and manage the early signs of memory change.

As Memory Care Director at Bethesda Gardens Phoenix, Donna McDonald makes it her personal mission every day to teach and empower her staff to take resident care to the next level by laying down a foundation that gives each resident the best care possible so that they live the best lives possible.

In using Teepa Snow’s POSITIVE APPROACH™, Donna and her team are able to meet the needs of our residents where they are mentally and physically, addressing the root cause of challenges by connecting with our residents through familiar activities and everyday routine.

"With the help of Teepa Snow’s POSITIVE APPROACH™, we have seen residents blossom before our eyes.  Most recently a daughter of a resident told me that the move to our community, filled with laughter, kindness, music, and understanding has given her hope she never thought she would find.  When you meet a resident where they are mentally, rather than pulling them into the direction of your expectation, you most always receive a positive outcome.”

Donna joined the team at Bethesda Gardens Phoenix in 2012 bringing with her the expertise of 38 years in nursing, with much of her career being spent in senior living, and caring for those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

This article is so true. Donna is amazing the way I see her work with the residents, the residents family members and her staff. I know she always goes out of her way to say hi, how are you doing? Then she stands there and listens to you. She's a wonderful lady. It's a great place to work and live :)
